Support Juliana's Recovery and Care

Juliana Spahr's contributions to poetry are immeasurable. Alongside her numerous and necessary books, she has been a teacher, collaborator, publisher, and mentor to a wide swath of poets both in the Bay Area and across the world. If you are reading this, you are likely one of those people whose writing and thinking has been impacted by Juliana's writing and thinking.

Juliana was recently diagnosed with a fast moving form of breast cancer and is about to start chemotherapy. While her odds of recovery are great, we are seeking support for the Spahr Luoma Weigl household (which also includes Juliana’s elderly mother who has dementia and has moved in with the family).

We're hoping you'll join us in the efforts to offset some of the family's financial burden, so Juliana can rest and heal. Donations will support additional caregiver hours for her mom, meals for the family, and complementary treatments (i.e. acupuncture) to ease the side effects of chemo. We are also raising money to cover any potential losses in expected income.

We encourage you to share this link with friends and colleagues who may want to support Juliana and her family, but ask that the fundraiser not be posted on social media at this time.
