Support Julio Guzman's Battle with Colon Cancer

Last New Year’s Eve, Julio started complaining about chest pains and pressure. We took him to the ER to get checked, and since the pain was gone, we were given a follow-up appointment on January 8th. After this follow-up appointment, we discovered that his blood tests were all over the place, and our race to save his life started. His doctor said that test results showed that the quality and quantity of his blood was not optimal for even for him to be standing up and walking. They explained that it looked like he was having internal bleeding. Doctors proceeded to do additional testing that included more doctor visits, more blood tests, and more procedures. Julio had to be put through an MRI, CT scan, and an endoscopy and colonoscopy, all done on January 28. He was then diagnosed with a severe case of anemia. Consequently after the test were coming back they were revealing a more tragic condition to his body. The whole situation was very traumatizing we were in shock when the truth was revealed and announced.
On February 3, 2025, after undergoing many procedures and labs, we got the worst call you can possibly get from the doctor. We got a call from doctor saying that they have found Cancer!! On this horrific day, my husband Julio Guzman, father of Allison and Mia, both 11 and 10, was diagnosed with colon cancer type 2. Ever since this day, our lives will never be the same and have forever changed. Our quality of life got impacted drastically since you can only imagine everything that comes to mind with such diagnostic. Julio used to be a workaholic; he would work holidays, weekends, you name it.
Now he is going to need to slow down and start working hard to win the battle of his life. Everything happened so quickly, and he got surgery on March 6th to get the tumor in his colon removed. He got 6 incisions and spent 4 days and 3 nights in the hospital. This tumor was almost the size of a tennis ball. Doctors have said the recovery for surgery is 4-6 weeks, and right after this recovery, he will embark on the journey of chemotherapy. Julio is placed out of work until June 17th.
Through this resource, we are kindly asking that if it’s within your possibility and you find it in your heart to donate for this good cause, to give the chance to Julio to heal without having to worry about financials. The proceeds will be used to help pay for our family’s monthly expenses, food, Kaiser visits and labs, utility bills, etc., while he returns to work. If this is something you can do, our family will much appreciate you. And if for some reason you cannot donate, that’s okay too; a simple prayer our way will bless our lives today. We are all cheering and hoping that we will win the war, and all the uncertainty will soon be just a bad dream.
We want to invite everyone out there to please if you feel that something is not right with your body please please please do not think twice or hesitate to go to the doctors , if something is wrong you need to get checked, please do it before it’s too late, you might need to push doctors and be very vocal about it and if you after checking and getting medication symptoms return please please follow up and go back as many times needed but don’t give up until you know what’s wrong and until you know your results are ok. We made the mistake of treating gastro intestinal problems little did we know we were dealing with cancer.
