Support June's Recovery After Tragic Shooting

My 11 year old daughter was shot yesterday. Not because of anything she did, but because a group of careless teenagers were shooting at eachother and their stray bullets flew through our home. June had just finished cleaning up the house and doing chores to ease my workload while I was running necessary errands to help with the funeral of my uncle. She told me when I got home how happy she was that I was back. I told her to make some lunch for herself and that I was going to my room for just a minute. I sat down and started to tell my husband about my day. Kicked off my shoes, took off my bra and then just like that our world changed. My baby was hurt.
June was in the kitchen making ramen when the shots started coming in. June loudly says “Ow!” My husband and I yell through the house to get down. He tackles June to the ground. We ask “Are you shot?!?!?” No she says. Im dialing 911 from the floor. We ask if anyone is hurt. She says “Just her leg” Her dad had to hold pressure on her leg for 8 agonizing minutes while we comfort her. Tell her it will be okay. She’s not crying. She’s not whining or complaining. She just asks “But why?”
She’s still not complaining. My 11 year old baby is asking us not to let people worry about her. She has a hole horizontally through her thigh and a puncture wound in the other where the bullet stopped. I have to remind myself how lucky we are that she’s going to be okay. That I can still hold her. That it wasn’t worse.
* I will post updates after I have been able to sleep. This goal may raise once I can actually sot down and count out what’s needed. Thanks to those of you who’ve helped already. *
