UPDATE from Bombay Boeski (Justin Perkins):
First off I want to say thank you to everyone who's donated, shared, or even sent a kind message. Your support means everything.
Since my accident, I’ve been trying to stay strong but I gotta be real with y’all, this has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever been through.
I was hit by a car in a hit-and-run while crossing the street March 14th 2025, and the damage it caused didn’t just affect my body it flipped my entire life upside down. I’m still struggling to walk. My right leg is barely functional from muscle and tendon damage, and now my left leg has developed a massive lump from overcompensating. On top of that, I’ve got a painful groin injury. The physical pain is nonstop. Sleeping, moving, just existing it all hurts.
But the emotional weight has been just as heavy.
The hardest part? Realizing how little help you get when you truly need it. The elders in my family are trying they’re doing what they can. But the people my age and younger? It’s like I’m invisible to them. No calls, no check-ins, no help. They’re so busy chasing their own lives, they can’t even stop to help someone clearly struggling someone who’s always shown love and been there when they needed it.
I’m temporarily disabled, not permanently but that don’t mean I don’t need help right now. I’m still caring for my elderly uncle while being down bad myself. I’m still trying to figure out how to cover rent, bills, and now medical costs, all while not being able to work. I’m a handyman, photographer, and graphic designer but all of that is on pause while I recover.
So I’m asking again please, if you can donate, do it. If you can’t, please share. Or just drop a word of encouragement. Every little bit helps me stay afloat and keep pushing forward. I won’t forget this moment, or the people who showed up for me.
Much love,
Bombay Boeski
