Support Kaden to Rebuild his Shop!

Brian Kaden is a self-taught blacksmith working out of Sioux Lookout forging specialty knives right in his own garage. At the age of 16, Kaden took it upon himself to learn knife geometry and the trade. Kaden often utilizes spare parts and scrap materials to make his creations – including making his own tools, such as his knife grinder. He now sells custom-made knives using a variety of steels.
At this year’s RBC Innovation Awards hosted by the Northwestern Ontario Innovation Centre, Kaden was named “Young Innovator of the Year” for his innovative spirit.
Unfortunately, Kaden was in his shop this week when a fire broke out and he sustained serious burns to his arms and body. Kaden was transported to Toronto and is receiving care at Sunnybrook hospital.
While Kaden is expected to recover, his shop received significant damage. Kaden’s tools, many of which are homemade, and started projects are now lost. Due to the extensive burns on his arms he will no longer be able to use many manual tools and he will require adapted technology to continue his trade.
We are asking for assistance in helping Kaden rebuild. The first, key tool needed is a power hammer which will allow him to continue his creations in spite of his burns.
Please consider supporting to help this young entrepreneur rebuild his business so he can continue doing what he loves.
