Support Kai as they help their mom!

Kai is seeking funds to help them take time off work to help transition their mom into a care facility. They are expecting to need about a month of this unpaid leave. Anything additional raised beyond this goal will go to assist Kai with any additional monthly care fees for their mom.
Kai’s mom has been diagnosed with early onset dementia and with this latest hospital stay, the doctors deemed her not able to live on her own and she needs to be moved to somewhere with 24/7 care available. A down payment has already been placed to reserve her spot. Kai has used about 2k of their own savings for this and they will also need to pay for their mom’s May 2023 rent. There are also costs expected to empty their mom's apartment with packing, cleaning, storage, and trash hauling costs. To accomplish this transition for their mom in the shortest time frame, Kai’s option with work was to take an unpaid leave of absence. During this time, Kai will also need to pay for their own health insurance as it is not covered by their employer during this unpaid leave.
Kai is always the kind of person who will step up to help the community, whether that be sending Venmo or offering to pick up donations, groceries, and pet items. Kai cares so deeply for their animals and their queer community and we are looking to help them as they take this much-needed time to care for themself, along with their mom. As a single parent Kai’s mom “worked her ass off” to provide for Kai. Her dementia has gone downhill pretty fast and since it’s a single parent and single child situation Kai is her primary caregiver. Kai’s mom has always fully supported them throughout their journey as a queer person and has been someone in their corner. Kai just wants to make sure she’s somewhere safe and able to have the care that she needs and deserves…but Kai needs some help!
