Support Kain Aryee's Road to Recovery

Donation protected

My name is Jill Haney. I am trying to raise funds to help my nephew, Kain Aryee, with medical and day-to-day expenses. He was in a motorcycle accident on Friday, July 12 at approximately 3:30 am on I-285 at Henderson Road in Dekalb County. He had just gotten off work from his job as a valet parking attendant. He was traveling along I285 when he hit a pothole at 70 mph. His front tire dipped down and when it came back up, was in what's known as a death wobble. It wouldn't straighten out and he had to make a split second decision to crash his bike into a tractor trailer or into the trees. His hope was that he could knick the tractor trailer and it would throw him from the bike. The alternative was to crash into the trees at 70 mph which would like result in death.

He bumped the back end of the side of the tractor trailer (the driver was likely unaware). He was thrown off the bike and flipped maybe 20 times landing on the side of 285. He regained his composure and tried to find his phone and couldn't. He managed to get up and tried to flag down passing motorists. Approximately 30-40 people passed by and no one was stopping. Finally, an officer came through with solid blue lights on; apparently looking for him as he had received a call of the accident. The ambulance arrived within 5 minutes. Kain's adrenaline helped him; all the while having a bone protruding from his arm. He was transported to Northside Gwinnett where he was treated for a broken left arm (he got a plate and 8 screws in it), a broken thumb at his right palm (where he had wires put in his hand), left ankle fractured in 3 places and left heel broke in 3 places. His left leg in a soft cast. He broke the side of his right foot and is in a boot. He broke both pinkie toes as well. He has road rash all over his body. The could not put a cast on his left arm due to the road rash and the possibility of it getting infected if they did. He has already received an ambulance bill for over $2,000.

Kain is a hard worker. He works valet in several areas wherever he is assigned. He works 5-6 days per week almost every week. He is 24 years old but tries very hard to be independent and do things on his own. Currently, he can barely feed himself as he has limited use of his hands. He cannot walk. He has a hard time sitting up on his own; he cannot move from chair to chair without help. He cannot use the restroom without help.

We are trying to raise funds to help with medical and every day expenses while he is out of work. His company doesn't offer benefits so he doesn't have medical insurance and cannot receive disability through his company. He is applying for financial assistance through the hospital and will seek emergency medicare. There is no guarantee that he will get it and if he does, how long it will take to get approved.

Please consider donating to his recovery and financial assistance. We are very thankful that he was not more seriously injured and thank God that he is still with us Thank you for any donations that you can provide; no matter how small. Every dollar counts!
Thank you,
Jill Haney
