Support Kamra's Album Release & Tour

Hi, I'm Kamra. I spend a good chunk of my days fundraising and providing life saving support for others and have finally gotten around to requesting my needs to be met. Here's how I got here:

After a rough breakup at the end of 2021, I started writing an album to cope with the heartache. At the same time, I was housing friends, booking Airbnbs for community members who had been infected with Covid-19, lending money to help folks pay their family’s rent all the while looking for a piece of land to purchase with funds I raised in 2020. I was forced to move out of my Brooklyn, NY apartment because of rent spikes, then slept in a tent on our soon-to-be farm for half a year with my dog, Charlie.

Fast forward to today, all of that money is gone, spent on supporting folks' livelihoods and an 8-acre farm in Bethel, NY where artists come to eat good food and find solace. I am without income and an 11-track full length album ready to be released. The reality of putting out music during this time is soul crushing. From touring fees to album packaging, it is entirely unmanageable to fortify a project of this caliber alone so I am asking for help.

My debut album, Shift Circuit, is a contemporary take on Chitlin' Circuits for and by Black LGBTQIA+ musicians from the 1930s through the 1960s, set to release on September 20, 2024 via people | places | records. The roots of the album grew from “Black Gaze”, the first song I composed while learning to produce my own music and studying Audre Lorde’s Uses Of The Erotic. The record is tightly packed with plucky textures and angelic yet brooding scoring. My goal was to make myself blush again after being so low for so long.
