Support Kandy's Adoption Journey

Dear friends, family, and compassionate supporters,

My name is Kandy, and I’m reaching out for your help in adopting my beloved nephew, KM. He is an amazing young boy who has faced more challenges in his short life than any child should ever have to endure. I am determined more than ever to provide KM with the safe, stable, and loving home he deserves—and I need your support to make this happen.

KM’s Story:

KM, at almost 6 years old (12/2018), has endured more heartache than most people face in a lifetime. His father, a registered sex offender with a history of domestic violence, is not a safe option for him. His mother fought to keep him safe, but tragically passed away in 2023, leaving KM without the chance to truly know the parent who fought so hard for him.

Due to legal missteps, KM was placed with his father in 2020, despite his father’s criminal background. KM’s mother spent the rest of her life trying to regain custody, but the legal system failed her. When KM’s father was incarcerated and his mother passed away, the door opened for a kinship adoption, and I am committed to giving KM the safe and loving home he deserves.

Our Plan for KM:

KM will thrive in a nurturing environment filled with love, stability, and a strong support system. I plan to homeschool KM with the help of one-on-one tutors, provide him with much-needed speech and occupational therapy, and offer him opportunities to engage in extracurricular activities, including sports and after-school clubs. With the support of my community and my two loving dogs, Lou-Lou and Coco, KM will be surrounded by love every day. It truly takes a village, and KM will never feel alone again.

Why I Need Your Help:

Adopting KM is not without its challenges. Despite his father’s incarceration, this is a contested adoption, and the legal process is complex and expensive. Here is an estimated breakdown of the costs:

• Legal counsel: $15,000

• Home study: $3,000

• Travel and housing in the area: $5,000

• Time off from work: $7,000

Our total fundraising goal is $10,000. This amount will help cover some of the legal expenses as I work tirelessly to ensure KM can live in a safe, loving, and permanent home.

I have set up a website, www.adoptkm.com, to share our journey and offer free digital downloads on a “pay what you want” basis. Every download supports our adoption efforts, but it’s okay if you prefer to download for free. I also chose to set up this GoFundMe page due to its commitment to protecting donors and ensuring transparency. We want everyone to feel confident in contributing to our cause.

I am incredibly grateful for the God-given strength to work hard and do whatever is necessary to provide for those who depend on me. I am fully committed to raising KM with the love, care, and protection he deserves. Whether it means moving across oceans or restructuring my life, I will do whatever it takes to ensure KM’s well-being and future.

I am deeply thankful for my relationship with God, the amazing network of women who uplift me daily, and the supportive community I live in. How many people can say that they have over 50 different people checking in on them daily? It is a blessing to have this amazing support!
