Support Kane's Future After Maysa's Passing
Donation protected
On March 22, 2025, Maysa Guirindola Davis left this world. She leaves behind a husband, a 4-year-old son, two step-daughters, and a step-son. She has family members all over the globe, from her home country of the Philippines as well as within the United States. With Maysa’s passing, a tough but necessary decision needed to be made regarding the long-term care of her four-year-old son, Kane. Kane has adjusted well to life in the U.S. and has become a favorite not only in his U.S. family but within the local community as well. He is an outgoing, happy child who loved coming to the sporting events of his siblings and was quickly immersing himself in American culture. Maysa’s absence has cut the main tie between Kane and his Filipino background.
After much thought and consideration, it has been decided that it is in Kane’s best interest to move to the home of a maternal aunt. This decision is heartbreaking for those of us who have grown to love and care for him, but we all understand that this is what is best for him, and the devastation we feel is insignificant compared to the benefits that this will provide Kane. He will not only maintain contact with his biological family, but he will be able to maintain the culture that his mother was so proudly a member of.
We recognize that the acceptance of any child into a home is a serious and difficult decision and are grateful for Maysa’s family. The reality is that taking on a child is not without expenses and even more so for a child who has experienced the trauma of losing a parent so suddenly. Kane will need the typical medical care of any child but will also need counseling to help him process and cope with the loss. There was always the goal and dream that Kane would be able to do the exciting things that he saw his siblings here do as well, including sports and other activities. We all want to be able to ensure that these are still a possibility for him, regardless of where he goes.
Although Kane will now face life without his mother, we know that she will be with him every step of the way. We are asking for donations to ensure that he can go on to do all the things that she had hoped to do for him, even though she is gone. The money raised will be provided to the family to assist in the final expenses for Maysa and to care for Kane. We want to ensure that not only are Kane's basic needs met, but to allow family to access the services necessary to help him work through these events and maintain that happy, innocent spirit he has now.
