Support Kansiime and Queer Refugees in Kakuma
Donation protected
Im Ninomae and i am working with a group of queer refugees, here is their message: “Hi, I'm Kansiime, a lesbian from Kakuma refugee camp.
We fled from Uganda due to the situation we passed through. We were disowned by our families and ran to Kenya's Kakuma refugee camp, where we found a very tough situation of homophobic people, lack of food, bedding, poor medication, and other basic necessities.
Some lesbians came with their children, and others, in the process, became pregnant while looking for survival and ended up having unplanned children.
Children face a lot of challenges, like not getting food or eating only once a day, which affects their health. Putting aside the issue of not studying because of the homophobic environment, they lack good medication in case of sickness, as well as bedding and shelter.
These children and mothers, plus all LGBT members, deserve to live a normal life where they can access basic needs at least. We call upon your support towards the survival of the LGBTQ community in the camp.”
