Help Kara Walters Fight Breast Cancer

Hi, my name is Jenny Walters and Kara is my niece. On November 14, 2023 Kara was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer and learned that it is already at stage 3 and in her lymph nodes. With no breast cancer on either side of her family and her young age of 28, this news came as a devastating and disorienting shock to Kara and all who love her. Doctors moved fast to get her treatment started and the ensuing days were a whirlwind of understanding the road that lie ahead as well as the financial toll this will take. Kara is embarking on a year long battle that will include chemotherapy, major surgery, radiation and then hormone therapy. High deductibles, co-pays, medication not covered, time she will need to take off work along with therapy support and complimentary interventions are just a few of the additional costs we are expecting. Kara will continue to work her job at a non-profit during her treatment but she simply does not have any extra money in her budget for this level of care. These requests are unfortunately all too common for folks with a cancer diagnosis in the US, but it is the reality. Though Kara does not want to need a GoFundMe campaign in her name, she recognizes that it is help she will need to accept to get through this time in her life.
