Please Support Karen & Ingin's Recovery from the Eaton Fire

(1/14/25) Update message from Karen and Ingin:
Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude for our friends, communities, and total strangers who have donated, shared our GoFundMe link, offered to help, or reached out in some way. We have an extensive emotional support network and we have each other, so we will be OK. As people who pride themselves on being fiercely independent, it pains us to ask anything of anyone. But our new reality is that we are not in any position to turn down help. We are unable to thank you individually, nor can we ever thank you enough, but please know that your support, love, and friendship are everything to us. Thank you.

Dear friends, family, and community members,
We're Alice, Diep, and Eric, long-time friends of Karen and Ingin. We have deep roots and connections to many, overlapping communities in Los Angeles as advocates, writers, and business owners. Diep and Eric live in Northeast Los Angeles and Alice’s family and heart is in NELA. Like many in the wildfire areas of Los Angeles, Ingin and Karen lost their home in the Eaton Fire. On the evening of January 7th, neighbors called and pounded on their door. The fire could be seen from their street, and the winds were high. Ingin and Karen were forced to leave with whatever photos and documents they could grab and the clothes on their backs. Overnight, they learned their forever home of 25 years, and everything in it, had been completely destroyed by the fire.
Ingin and Karen are active advocates for equity and inclusion for diverse communities. They have supported many queer and women of color entrepreneurs to start their businesses. Their Altadena home has been a gathering place for many community meetings, holiday dinners, birthday parties, backyard BBQs, movie nights, and celebrations. Ingin and Karen have donated their home and space for independent film shoots, organizing meetings, parties that bring together friends and community. We are grateful for them. Ingin and Karen have been there for us, let’s be there for them now.
Your donations, in any amount you can give, will support Ingin and Karen to address the many aspects of this crisis.
How you can help: Donate! Any amount will make a difference. Spread the word! Sharing the link with your family, friends, and professional networks is one of the best and easiest things you can do to help.
Ingin and Karen will directly receive all funds raised to help cover the many costs related to this type of total loss. They, and we, thank you for your generosity and support during this devastating time.
With gratitude,
Alice, Diep, and Eric
