Philanthropist Karen Miles Reported Missing After Absence on Social Media, Stranger Allegedly Found Driving Her Car.

We would like to thank all our friends and family for your prayers and support throughout this difficult time. We wish we could have answered every call, responded to every text, and read every post, but the depths at which our mom’s light reached was unimaginable. She always spoke about wanting a big family and without knowing it had one all along. We believe that coming together to support one another and honor her memory is the most important thing we can do right now.

Through her service, our mother, Nana, Karen, Mrs. Miles touched people from all over and shined a light on the goodness of the world. She led by example when it came time to give. Rather it was monetary or just her time, she was the true definition of a cheerful giver, and her happiness came from making others happy.

She taught us that happiness is the one thing that can’t be forced or brought, but only obtained through love. And love doesn’t have to necessarily be the love for a spouse, child, or parent, but simply just the true joy of any moment. The moment in time that you allow yourself to be vulnerable to the unpredictable, the small window of faith that penetrates the soul and shines light in the time of darkness.

One thing we’ve learned throughout this process is that life doesn’t get easier or more forgiving, instead we get stronger and more resilient (~Steve Maraboli). We must take pride in how far we’ve come and have faith in how far we can go. But don’t forget to enjoy the journey. In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. "If you can't fly, then run. If you can't run, then walk. If you can't walk, then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving."
