Support Karla's Final Journey and Family

My name is Sheryl, I am raising money for my mother’s final expenses.

My mother, Karla Brown, was 66 when she passed. She was born and raised in/around Battle Creek, Michigan.

In December 2023 my mother was diagnosed with lung cancer. At the time she was diagnosed she was homeless and having a tough time through life. After her diagnosis of cancer, she was hospitalized due to diverticulitis, that hospitalization ended with a surgery removing a part of her bowel and colon in order to remove the infection. Once she was released from the hospital in January 2024, my son, her grandson drove her to TN for her to live with me.

During the process of getting her cancer treatment set up, she continued to have infections, which delayed her treatment.

In April 2024, she was hospitalized again, this time the news was worse. The cancer had spread and metastasized into her chest walls, chest cavity, and she has a carcinoma on top of her left lung the size of a lemon. She has additional masses on her liver, kidney and adrenal glands. Due to the carcinoma my mother was unable to breath without oxygen.

In May of 2024 my mother was released from the hospital. After seeing her primary care physician, it was determined my mother was not eligible for any treatment, that keeping her quality of life was the main focus. My mom passed away in the early hours of June 1, 2024.
