Support Karsyn's Battle Against Hodgkin's Lymphoma
Donation protected
On September 19, 2024, Karsyn was experiencing shortness of breath and uncontrollable nausea. Sandy, her mother, thought that she had been experiencing her first Crohn's flare up after having her Crohn's managed for the last couple of years.
Karsyn was transferred to the children's hospital for a GI work up. The GI doctor on that Saturday decided to order an MRE since Karsyn had not had one in a couple of years. The MRE showed new inflammation in her intestinal tract, but unfortunately showed a mediastinal mass 9.9 x 6.2x 9.7. She would have to stay in the hospital an additional three days to have a needle biopsy performed. A delay in results due to hurricane Helene ultimately showed inconclusive results. The following week, Karsyn was admitted having a more invasive procedure to remove a lymph node and part of the mass. There was yet another delay in the results from Hurricane Milton. On October 14, 2024, there was finally a diagnosis of Nodular Sclerosis Hodgkins Lymphoma, bulky disease, stage 2.
Karsyn will have a port implanted in the near future and will begin her chemotherapy treatment, ultimately resulting in 5–21-day cycles followed by radiation. We are hopeful in Karsyn's progress have started this go fund me to help Sandy with the assistance of medical bills, time off work, and other unexpected expenses related to Karsyn's care so she may spend her time and support Karsyn during her treatments and healing.
