Support Kate Lowry's Fight Against Colon Cancer
Donation protected
As you may know, Kate Lowry was recently diagnosed with Colorectal cancer and is now in the midst of that difficult journey.
We all know Kate as being full of life and love, ready for an adventure or a good laugh, always hopeful, and completely dedicated to her family, especially her three children Lucas, Ethan, and Ava. While her cancer diagnosis has not changed who Kate is, it has presented real physical and financial challenges.
The mass in her colon was discovered during a colonoscopy. Next came numerous labs, MRIs, a CT scan, and surgery on July 12. The results from her pathology from the surgery show negative margins which is great news (this means that the cancer has been contained!). The next steps will be determined with her doctor in her follow-up appointments. Kate is unsure what will happen in the next phase of her journey but she remains optimistic. What she does know is that affordable health insurance means a high deductible, and hers is $10,000. Her medical bills won’t be fully covered, and many tests are out-of-network. While recovering from her surgery, she’s unable to lift anything over 10 pounds for up to six weeks, is unable to drive for 2 more weeks and will not be able to return to work for 4-6 weeks per her doctor’s instructions.
Asking for financial help from friends and family doesn’t come easy so we have set up this page to help with the financial burden of her current and future medical bills. Any donation amount is appreciated and no amount is too small.
Kate appreciates your prayers and support and will be posting updates of her progress on this page.
A MESSAGE FROM KATE:
To all of my friends and family: If this news comes as a surprise, I’m sorry. Please know that as much as I wanted to share this information with all of you, a deep breath was needed before I could share my story. It all happened so fast and unexpectedly, and I needed to find the ground under my feet. I’m so thankful for the love of my friends and family and the wonderful medical care I’ve received. Your thoughts and prayers are powerful, and I’m hopeful for the future. I truly believe that my colonoscopy saved my life. Colon cancer does not run in my family and I had no symptoms or signs. Without this test, the cancer would have continued to grow unchecked. If you have any questions, concerns or just want a good laugh, reach out any time! And please schedule your colonoscopies!
Love,
Kate
