Support Kate’s Fight Against Breast Cancer

UPDATE 12/20/2024:

I’d like to sincerely thank everyone again for their ongoing support. It has helped me more than you know! As many of you know, I have finally completed my treatments, and I am relieved to be starting my remission journey!

Unfortunately, although I have completed my treatments, I now have more medical bills and related expenses as I get closer to my surgery date that I was not expecting. For this reason, I am increasing my fundraiser to $50,000 in hopes to be able to pay off any unforeseen medical expenses that come with my recovery post-surgery, and as I get back on my feet.

I’d like to thank you all again for your continued support and generosity. This process would have been exponentially harder without all of you. Thank you!

Original Text:
There is no easy way to say this but, this past May, I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Triple Negative Invasive Ductal Carcinoma and am also a carrier of the BRCA1 gene mutation - making me more susceptible to other cancers. I have already begun my chemotherapy treatment and will receive it for a total of 12-16 weeks before needing a double mastectomy later this year, with a recovery period that may last several months.

Since my diagnosis, I have had to take a step back from working, as my immune system is not strong enough for me to work full or even part time. This has made it particularly difficult to sustain the life that my husband, Pat, and I have started to build. Just a week after my diagnosis, we closed on a home in Florida that we now have a mortgage which already puts financial stress on a family during a good year; once my treatment and surgeries are complete, we will need to begin the process of moving from MA to FL so we can finally live in our new home.

I have applied to several grants over the last few weeks for those with a cancer diagnosis and, while I have received some, I still am not eligible for many and was not awarded others. With me unable to work, I am now unfortunately struggling financially and need assistance. I am graciously asking for help raising $20,000 to financially support me while I fight and recover from my cancer. This amount should be able to assist me with both my monthly and medical bills, as well as getting me back on my feet when the time comes.

I greatly appreciate your kindness, generosity, and support during this time of need. Thank you for helping me fight cancer - I cannot thank you enough!
