Support Kate Via's Miraculous Recovery Journey

Donation protected
Kate Via was in a traumatic car accident with a tow truck on 11/21/2024 in Omaha, NE. Her car was hit with 50% intrusion on her passenger side. She was sedated and intubated on scene and rushed into Bergan Mercy Trauma Center. She was 20 weeks pregnant at the time of the accident.

Kate first survived an unsurvivable accident. She was intubated at the scene and spent hours in the trauma bay at Bergan Mercy Hospital as “Jane Doe” while they stabilized her. She sustained several brain injuries and physical injuries. It was hours before she was at a point where they could even have family see her. We spent the time on our knees praying for a miracle.

Kate spent the next 3 weeks in critical condition in the trauma ICU. Every second, every minute, every hour was crucial to her survival. Her team believed from night one that she was most likely not going to make it out of her condition. But Kate is a fighter and she miraculously made it out of Bergan’s ICU.

By the Lord’s hand, Kate made it past “survival” and began her journey of “thrival” at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital. She spent her time there in countless therapy sessions and fought every single day to keep improving. She relearned how to talk, eat, walk, write, do daily tasks and how to live her new “normal”. Kate is now 37 weeks pregnant and preparing for this next stage of life.

Although her “normal” still isn’t normal, it is something. It is a miracle and a blessing. Kate will continue to have therapy several times a week and will have daily struggles with tasks that are easy for anyone else. She is in a marathon of recovery and it could be days, months or years before she reaches full independence again.

Thank you for the donations that have helped fund Kate’s new family thus far and for continuing to support them through both funds and prayers. Kate is unable to return to work at this time and her husband has been having to take frequent time off to support her through this journey. The family has a new baby that will be delivered any day, countless medical bills, and possible years of therapy to help Kate to continue to function in her new normal. Thank you for thinking of them at this fragile time.
