Support Katherine's Move to a Safer Community

Hi. My name is Katherine Masters (She/her pronouns). I am a transgender woman currently living in Sheridan, Wyoming. Due to political circumstances that are soon to make my home state of Wyoming inhospitable for myself, and others like me, I am asking for your help to obtain the funding I need to safely and comfortably leave Wyoming. I am attempting to leave to move to Durango, Colorado, or, to Albuquerque, New Mexico as a backup plan. These states are much more queer-friendly, and I believe that they will soon be among some of the only places where myself and people like me, will be allowed to live as ourselves.

This is a simple question of safety, and material conditions. I have no reason to believe that Wyoming will remain safe, or even mildly neutral to, LGBTQ+ people, and plenty more to believe it will soon become actively hostile to individuals in those communities. So I humbly ask for your assistance in leaving Wyoming before it can become an inescapable trap for me.

$4000 is my current estimated cost for doing so, as this will pay for:

Approximately $1500 for repairs and replacements of my current vehicle to enable it to survive the journey to its destination.

Approximately $400 for transportation of myself and my belongings to my intended destination via a Uhaul vehicle.

Approximately $1000-$1200 for the first month’s rent.

Approximately $100-$150 for the deposit on an apartment.

With the remainder being delegated to miscellaneous expenses such as purchasing utilities and furniture if necessary, obtaining groceries and other essential supplies (I currently have no medical insurance, as the Wyoming insurance market has proven incredibly complex and difficult to navigate), so a portion of this money will be delegated to obtaining the medications I require to live, and continue my transition.
