Support Kathy Armstrong in Her Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
On Thursday, November 14, 2024, our beloved mom, Kathy Armstrong, was diagnosed with primary central nervous system B-cell lymphoma (PCNSL).
For the past few months, Kathy has been experiencing severe, life-changing symptoms—nerve pain, foot drop, vision changes, trouble with balance, frequent falls, and fainting spells. We knew something was wrong, but were struggling to find answers. After numerous hospital stays and countless tests, we finally have a diagnosis: it’s cancer.
While this diagnosis has turned our world upside down, there is hope in the clarity we now have; we are enheartened by the treatability of PCNSL.
PCNSL is an extremely rare, aggressive cancer that is confined to the central nervous system; only about 1,500 people per year in the United States are diagnosed. The cancer is in her brain and spinal cord, putting her in the 1% of patients in which the disease permeates the spinal cord. While PCNSL is treatable, survivability hinges on treatment access as very few neuro-oncologists specialize in this disease. Securing specialized care with experts in this field will likely involve travel and out-of-network expenses.
Our mom has always been incredibly independent. After moving to Texas, she built a successful career in real estate, establishing meaningful relationships with clients and colleagues—many of whom have become lifelong friends. She raised all four of us girls with love, strength, and determination. Now, she needs help.
We’re unsure what the coming months will look like, and how much, or if, she will be able to work during her treatment. The financial strain of cancer care isn’t something we can manage alone, so we are turning to our friends, family, and community for support during this challenging time. Any donation, no matter how small, will help cover the costs of her medical treatment, transportation to appointments, medications, and other expenses as we navigate this journey.
If you are unable to contribute financially, we are deeply grateful for your prayers and support. Our mom’s strength and resilience have always inspired those around her, and with your help, we know she can fight this.
Kathy is facing this journey with unwavering determination and a chic new haircut. We will weather this storm rooted in resilience, holding hope in our hearts.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and generosity. It means the world to us. For updates along the way, join our Caring Bridge page.
