Support Katie (Ahern) Priest's Recovery Journey

Hi…My name is Amy and I received some devastating news today about my dear friend Katie (Ahern) Priest. Avid animal lover, labor and delivery nurse for 35 years and one of the most exceptionally caring, kind and compassionate people I’ve been blessed to know. Katie and Sonya lost their dog Leonard a year and a half ago and just haven’t been ready to get attached after their loss. The idea to work with a local dog recuse to offer respite care to foster parents and the dogs they foster seemed to be a great solution. Making a difference for these dogs until they found their forever homes. If you are friends with either of them, you know these dogs were treated like royalty (as they should be). Unfortunately and tragically this past Wednesday the foster parent brought Mario to their home for what was supposed to be a holiday weekend respite for Mario the dog. As Sonya and the foster parent were discussing Mario’s needs, Katie was immediately attacked by the dog. I do not want to be too graphic, but I have seen the photos and the easiest way to put it…Katie will NEVER be the same physically. This is why I have created this fundraiser and I am asking anyone who can help to please donate whatever you can. She has had the first of many surgeries to immediately repair what they could. There will be many more surgeries of reconstruction to come. She will be unable to work for the foreseen future and the medical expenses along with living expenses will accumulate. Please if you know them, love animals as much as they do or simply are looking for an absolutely beautiful person to help…Katie (Ahern) Priest needs and deserves all the prayers for healing and donations for coping through this difficult time.
