Support Katie DiSimone and her family

Hi, my name is Kate Farnsworth, and I have created this go fund me to raise money for my dear friend Katie Disimone and her family. Katie recently was shocked to receive a diagnosis of Glioblastoma.

Glioblastoma, also known as glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), is the most aggressive type of cancer that begins within the brain. In Katie's words "This is not a cancer that has a “remission” potential. Even if they had gotten 100% of the tumor out, it regrows because of its tentacles unseen that spread. It has awful survival rates for the 5 year mark. We’ve been told 3 years average. (God that’s still so hard to type). IF the tumor tissue has certain genetic markers, that could help indicate that the tumor might be better responder to the treatments available and the survival years might be longer. But the outliers are few, and even then 10-15 years on an outside chance when you’re 47 years old doesn’t exactly seem right. "
Katie has tirelessly worked towards bettering the lives of those with type 1 diabetes around the globe, most notably within the DIY community. She continues to graciously give of herself with a pay-it-forward ethos that she lives day in and day out.

Katie is a loving daughter, wife, mom to two incredible daughters, and her family's main income earner. She has a long road of treatment, pt and effort, to squeeze every drop out of the days she has ahead. I want to make sure that money is not something that she and her family needs to worry about.
