Support Katie Powell: Overcoming Romance Scam

My name is Katie Powell and I am a victim of a romance scam. Unfortunately, there were carefully crafted numerous and continuous snow balls of increased lies that has left me embarrassed and humiliated. Over the past few months, I’ve been deceived by someone who manipulated my emotions and took thousands of dollars from me. As a single mom, the financial impact has been severe, leaving me struggling to cover basic bills and essential expenses. By sharing my story and raising funds, I aim to shed light on the realities of romance scams. Awareness is key to preventing others from experiencing the same emotional destruction and financial loss.

A portion of the contributions will go toward SCARS or Society of Citizens Against Relationship Scams, Inc. SCARS is a non-profit cybercrime victim's assistance, support, and advocacy organization focused on the support of relationship scam victims worldwide. They have only just begun to help support me in the process of recovery that I know will be a journey for a very long time. When I read that there are over 80,000,000 estimated number of scam victims worldwide, helped me understand that I am certainly not alone.

Though this experience has been incredibly challenging, I’m hopeful that with your support, I can move past this and use my experience to help others. Together, we can build a stronger community and make sure that romance scams are recognized sooner than later for the serious threat they are.
