In 2021, I fostered Katie from the Humane Society after her owner’s passing. She was morbidly overweight despite being so depressed she wouldn’t eat. She had arthritis and hip dysplasia from her weight and was recovering from surgery to remove bladder stones and rotten teeth.
A month in, I decided she was home and adopted her. With a lot of love, diet, and exercise, she lost a third of her body weight, began to run again, and get zoomies.
After 3 years with my best friend, we discovered a tumor in her right anal gland when I asked the vet to express them on a routine visit. Bloodwork indicates it’s likely cancer but cannot be 100% confirmed without surgery to remove it and a biopsy. The surgeon quoted me $5,500-$7,000 on top of what I’ve already paid this month for all the testing. Unfortunately, I can’t afford to pay for all of her treatment on my own. She got a second chance at life, please help me keep my girl around longer ❤️
