Support Katrina's Family in Tino's Hospice Care

I’m posting this fundraiser on behalf of Katrina and her family. For those of you who know or have worked with Katrina, you’ll recognize that she is ALWAYS the first to come forward to lend a helping hand. As an Oncology CNA, unit clerk, and nursing student destined for greatness, she has been an unwavering source of comfort and support in the lives of so many patients and families as they navigate the most vulnerable times in their lives. From caring for a young girl, newly diagnosed with cervical cancer as she learns that her lifelong dream of getting pregnant will never come to be, to tenderly cradling a wife as she watches her husband of 50 years take his final breath, Katrina is the one person I will always want on my team.

Now it is our turn to help Katrina and her family as they navigate end of life care for her Dad, Tino.

I’m sure that many of you have had the pleasure of meeting him over the past couple of years as he has spent a tremendous amount of time hospitalized. Most people would describe him as loving, sweet, and a happy-go-lucky guy. He can always be seen with a smile on his face no matter who walks in the door. Tino has fought his way through a number of different health issues. Most recently, he entered the hospital with multi-organ failure and he and his family have chosen to elect for hospice care.

In order to get Tino out of the hospital and into an environment where he can live out the remainder of his life comfortably and surrounded by family, he will need to move into a group home.

This is where we come in. Unfortunately, Medicare only provides coverage for the hospice benefit and the cost of the group home would be entirely out of pocket. The cost of a group home is well outside the means of a measly social security income. Please assist me in raising the funds to help get him moved in to an environment where Katrina and her family can see him off with dignity and comfort. No amount is too big or small and if you are unable to donate please share the post.
