Support Kattie Bear's Final Journey

The time has finally come to start making arrangements for my sweetest powder sugar face Kattie Bear. This beautiful soul of a dog was my first fur baby and first true love. She has given me 13, (almost 14) good faithful years of being by my side through the best and worst of times.

Kattie has always been a "lumpy bumpy" labrador. She has had tumors appear over the years but all were benign. Between 2021-2022, Kattie developed a tumor on her elbow, that after a biopsy, was found to be cancerous.

This was absolutely crushing news. What made it worse was there wasn't much we could do that wouldn't be detrimental to her life. Either A. risky surgery, that would be tough on a senior dog like her with no real promise they can get it all. B. amputation that again wouldn't be realistic on a dog her age, especially being the front leg. Or C. chemotherapy, which ...just No.

Well today, Friday July 19th 2024, I took Kattie in to the vet to evaluate/treat the open wound on her tumour. It has progressively gotten worse and getting bigger due to being rubbed against things and breaking open due to well being a dog.

This is when I got the call that there is nothing they can do to help her at this point. The wound will never heal because the skin cells are cancerous and will never do so. It has grown completely around and into her elbow joint, and will effectively prevent her mobility. It will only continue to get worse hence forward.

She has been given "2-3 months" before it becomes the finality of her life. Now yes I know these are guess by the vet because you can't have a 100% answer. But the reality of that time frame is more true than I want to admit.

I've had to hit the complete restart button as the office job I had this last year was not a good environment to be in. I've had to change jobs and there is no way I am going to be able to come up with this money for Kattie.

I've had to sit down and eat a slice of humble pie and create this. I know there are enough people who not only love me, but love this sweet sweet creature enough to possibly help out. I am only asking for enough to cover the expenses to make sure I can do what's right for her in her final time here on earth. Everything is appreciated!
