Support Bryan & Teagan Through Tough Times

Donation protected
Hello, My name is Celeste and I am writing to you in hopes that we can come together as a family and community and raise some funds for Kati & Bryan as they go through some rough times due to an unexpected health issues and accident that happened impacting their family.

Dear Family & Friends, my name is Celeste and I decided to create this page for our dear friends Catherine (Kati) & Bryan, their girls: Alexis, Michala & Teagan.

If you know the Callahan’s , you will agree with me that they are always ready to lend a helping hand anyway they can without asking for anything in return. They are always the first ones to step in to help their friends, neighbors, clients and sometimes even a complete stranger just to make any job, chore, hardship easier for anyone —no questions asked.

My husband David and I are one of those people who has been blessed by their friendship, kindness and priceless gestures whenever we needed a hand. They are always the first to show up for us. I am sure many of you have been blessed by their kindness as well.

Right now is their time of need and it is our turn to lend them a helping hand.

About two weeks ago, Bryan was rushed to the ER with complaints of dizziness, numbing of his lower extremities and eventually losing pulse on his right leg after several tests, scans it was decided to transfer him to Munson in Traverse City to get urgent and better care in a much bigger hospital. The Doctors found blood clots on his legs causing the lost of pulse, also found blood clots Multiple blockages throughout his body, intestines, both femoral arteries, both main supplies in and out of the right leg and they haven't even checked his heart, lungs and arms.
He immediately underwent emergency surgery to remove the blood clots, surgery went well, however, they weren’t able to remove it all. He was sent home to heal and was recommended to have Atleast one or two more surgeries in the near future and he was scheduled to see a vascular specialist in MSU and many other follow up appointments. However, not even 7 days in from being home, he lost pulse again on his left leg, causing pain, numbness and his leg to turn purple. Once again, he is back in Munson TC hospital for another emergency surgery. His surgery went well! He has several cuts and was given a vein graft procedure and was told this should heal him up and fix all the issues on his leg!

All while he is in the hospital healing up from his most recent surgery and Catherine talking to the doctors after a long night post surgery they received a call from their eldest daughter that Catherine is needed in the emergency room back in Gaylord.

Teagan (7) , was attacked by their recently adopted dog from the AuSable shelter in Grayling that they adopted and picked up last week.

Alexis (17) and their neighbor Sara & Scott drove Teagan to the ER where she was air lifted to Devos in Grand Rapids and immediately underwent a reconstructive plastic surgery, lots of meds, shots, Iv’s and to fix up her face, later in the night having to undergo a second surgery where she was given 39 stitches before the doctors stopped counting all around her right eye and cheek by one of the best teams in the State of Michigan.

Both Bryan and Teagan are glad to be home snuggling in each other’s arms recovering from this weeks traumatic events but they both have a long road ahead of themand a long list of follow up doctor appointments.

Luckily, they have insurance, but as you know there are countless of patient portion (co-pay) and many other medical bills and medications not covered 100% by insurance and are piling up fast. Not to mention all the other bills that need to be paid at home, gas expenses going to and from traverse everyday to talk to surgeons, hotel stay, and food as they travel to and from medical visits. On top of mortgage, credit card bills, and multiple car payments.

Bryan is currently unable to work due to his health condition and using up PTO fast. and his return to work date is currently unknown as he is yet to be able to stand by himself just getting out of his last surgery yesterday.

Catherine does her best as she now juggle motherhood, work, and now as their primary caregiver. The nights has been long for the family especially for Kati tending to the kids , house chores and everyone. She’s slept in various hospitals for weeks, and I am sure any kind of help to help get her family back on their feet she will be beyond appreciative. It has been a scary couple of weeks for Catherine, to the thought of almost losing your spouse not knowing if he will ever be better again 100% and able to walk, to loving on a dog and just wanting to give him a home after losing your family dog of 8 years to getting a phone call that your baby girl got attacked and is being loaded on an emergency helicopter headed 3 hours away while she was in traverse with her husband.

To this day, there is not a concrete answer as to how Bryan ended up with all the blood clots as he is healthy, no history of hypertension, cholesterol or heart disease. Perfectly healthy lungs and diet not being an issue. Right now, they are taking it one day at a time, he is on a lot of meds including blood thinners and has since lost 20lbs in less than 14 days. He is unable to walk and needs help doing every daily task.

Teagan, is expected to fully recover. Although, right now her face is very swollen and she has yet to open her right eye since the incident. Luckily, her eye did not suffer any injury (Praise the Lord!), no puncture or skull fractures from the bite and so far all nerves are healthy and untouched.

You know and I know, they are not the kind of people to ask for help. I am sure they will be so appreciative and will be forever grateful with any help that you would willingly GIFT them.
