Support Kayla and Family After Devastating Crash

Donation protected
Hi, I'm Keith. I'm family with the people that were involved in this fiery crash last night. Last night, my cousin, Steve Desimone Jr told me that his son, Steven, was in a really bad car accident along with his son's mom's, Kayla, family. We are trying to raise as much as we can for them in this difficult time; they need all they can get. This was a really bad accident. Please, please, please take the time to read this. Thank you. We are trying to just raise as much as we can for medical expenses and for Kayla, as she will have a long road to recovery and can't work.

At 7 pm last night, Kayla Freed was in a major head-on collision, along with our kids, 13 & 5, and grandson, 6.

Payton did an amazing job calling 911 and pulling the two little boys out before the car was completely engulfed in flames. A passerby was able to pull Kayla out and away from the car.

Kayla broke both of her thigh bones, right ankle, and left wrist. She tore the blood supply from her small intestine and nicked her spleen. She spent 5 hours in surgery to stabilize her thigh bones, and then the surgery to remove part of her small intestine and a portion of her colon. They reattached everything back together. She is still intubated and sedated and has basically cages on her legs until the surgery to start fixing her thighs, ankle, and wrist (hopefully Sunday or Monday after her body has time to rest up). They are optimistic about one thigh and wrist, but they are not so sure the ankle and other thigh are going to be able to be put back together like we would want.

Payton has a couple of breaks or fractures in his wrist and hand.

Steven (Stink) was life-flighted to Akron Children’s main in Akron. He has a collapsed lung, fractured collarbone, the seat belt sliced his groin area open on both sides requiring stitches, spinal fractures, skull fracture, and bleeding on the brain. He has a tube in his chest and is sedated and intubated, so we do not know the full extent of his spinal injuries yet. They are still doing repeat MRIs and CAT scans regularly to keep an eye out for anything that pops up or got missed on previous scans.

Destin was life-flighted to Akron Children’s main in Akron as well. His neck and spine are separated farther from each other than what they like. He broke his collarbone, shoulder blade, and fractured his spine in multiple places. The damage to his spine is causing a lot of issues due to where the fractures are. The part that is damaged is what controls blood pressure, heart rate, lower extremities, bowels, etc. They are monitoring him in the ICU because of his heart rate and blood pressure not being controlled by his body. He does not have any feeling or movement from the belly down. The doctors think some of the damage could be permanent, but they are scanning and monitoring constantly to see if there is anything they can fix to prevent some of the long-term damage. The next 12 hours are critical with heart rate and blood pressure and 72 hours to know the full extent after swelling, etc.
