Support Kaylie's Journey to Dental Health

Hello, and thank you for taking a moment to read my plea. My name is Kaylie. I’m a transgender, deafblind autistic student, and I find myself in a situation in which I am deeply overwhelmed and in desperate need of assistance.

I live in constant, debilitating pain due to severe dental decay and the subsequent complications that have arisen. The pain is relentless, and unfortunately, over-the-counter medications bring no relief. Eating has become a source of dread instead of pleasure, severely affecting my nutritional intake and overall health. The simple act of maintaining dental hygiene, something most can do without thinking, is a battle against pain for me—every touch, every brush brings unbearable agony, to the point where even rinsing with water is excruciating.

My situation is further compounded by the limitations of my health insurance, which offers negligible dental coverage, leaving me stranded in this cycle of pain and deterioration with no apparent way out. I am trapped by the cost of the dental work I so desperately need, yet I can’t afford to move forward without assistance, thus, I am turning to GoFundMe and to you—kind-hearted individuals who might see fit to help someone in dire need. The funds raised will directly pay off $1,700 in debt, unlocking my ability to engage in a sliding payment plan for the emergency dental care that promises not just relief, but a chance to reclaim my life from the grips of this constant suffering.

My income is severely limited, and due to my monthly cost of living, I’m constantly playing catch up with myself, using this month’s income to pay for last month’s bills and so on, which has resulted in me steadily growing further and further into debt.

Due to not living near an accessible bus stop, I also rely very heavily on services such as Lyft and Uber to get from point A to B, which also impacts my ability to stay current on bills, and by the end of each month, I find myself with a bank account in the negative, requiring me to start the next month off already behind.

As I said, it’s a never-ending cycle that only perpetuates itself as it continues.

My hope is to raise the required money to pay off my debts so that I can move forward with care. I have gone to different dental practices around town that promise to help low-income individuals, but the waiting lists for care are six months or more and frankly, I can’t hold out until December, the earliest possible I can get in.

Instead, I will get assistance through the local University clinic, as they offer sliding scale payment plans, perfect for my needs, however, as I mentioned, my present financial circumstances aren’t malleable to the situation.

I’m asking for $1700 as I said, which will go towards paying off two outstanding utility bills, (gas and electric,) a credit card that I’ve been struggling with for over a year, as well as an outstanding phone bill, as I need my phone to stay in contact with doctors for other unrelated medical concerns.

I have already reduced my outgoing expenses as much as I can to try to make up for things, but at this point I’m drowning and see no way out without asking for assistance.

I understand there are countless worthy causes out there, and money is hard-earned. Any contribution, no matter how small, will bring me one step closer to healing and hope. I promise transparency with the funds received and will update all donors on the progress and outcomes of the dental treatments.
