Support Kelci's Journey to Recovery

Hi, I’m Tatum, Kelci's younger sister. I’m 31 years old, married, and a busy mother of 3. Kelci resides with us in Sutherlin, OR. We have always been very close.

On June 20th, 2024, I came home from work at 1:30 pm and found my 35-year-old sister Kelci on her bedroom floor, face down, unable to move or respond. I called 911 immediately, and she was then taken by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center where they learned she had a stroke. The type of stroke she had caused a brain bleed. They immediately life-flighted her to Legacy Emmanuel Hospital in Portland, OR. She has spent the last 4 days in trauma ICU. Doctors have done multiple MRIs, CAT scans, and an angiogram, but they still cannot figure out what caused the stroke. Today, June 24th, they moved her to a more permanent room in a different unit.

Every day, doctors, nurses, speech therapists (to help with swallowing, talking, eating, etc.), and physical therapy (starting tomorrow) work with her to see the extent of the damage from the stroke. After Kelci is released, she will need to go to a live-in rehab in Portland where she can then get her strength back to lift her left arm and leg so she can hopefully walk again. We are trying to take some of the stress off of her while she goes through this long, hard journey she has ahead of her. Unfortunately, OHSU and Legacy are in the process of merging together so they no longer offer families vouchers for fuel, food, and lodging which means we can’t be in Portland as much as we’d like or need to be to help and be supportive.

The money raised will go towards helping Kelci with any of her finances, medical bills, and anything else she may need in the future as well as helping us be able to be there with her and give her all the support she needs to get through this hard time. As many of you may know, I’m never one to ask for help, but in this very hard time, our family could really use all the help we can get. Anything helps.
