Support Kelly's Fight Against Ovarian Cancer
Donation protected
On May 31, our family received the devastating news that my younger sister Kelly has Stage 4B Ovarian Cancer. The two week wait to meet with her oncologist was brutal as she gained almost 20lbs from ascites sending her to the emergency room twice with no relief. As a result she was unable to sleep, eat, drink, use the bathroom or breathe very well from her partially collapsed lungs. Her kidneys also began failing due to dehydration. At her first oncology appointment she was immediately admitted to the hospital to get her well enough to start chemo. After several days of multiple paracentesis treatments, fluids, albumin, and lasix she was able to finally get her port and receive her first chemo treatment. She did respond well but had more Ascites complications and edema. She was finally able to come home after 8 days in the hospital. She continues to fight exhaustion, weakness, ongoing ascites and extreme edema. Each day that passes though gets a little bit better. After 3 chemo sessions she will be reevaluated to see if surgery is a treatment option. If not, she will continue with 3 more chemo sessions and then reassess. This will be a long journey for Kelly and all of us who love her so much. Kelly is the nucleus of her single income family. Super mom to Jordyn (13) & Jackson (10) , loving wife to Shane, ultimate chaos coordinator, chef, shopper, scheduler, caregiver (the list goes on). Recently promoted to director of financial aid at Gonzaga University, her GU family is supporting her fight and her job will be waiting for her once she’s recovered. She has been blessed with an excellent oncologist, and we have faith in God that she will recover. While Kelly is out of work, donations are welcome to help out with medical bills. This will allow her to focus all of her efforts on beating the cancer so she can watch her sweet kids grow up and return to all the things she loves. Please pray for her and her family as we all go with her on this journey to recovery. Thank you all for your prayers and words of comfort and encouragement.
