Support Kelsey's Battle Against Breast Cancer

Donation protected
My friend Kelsey has gone through a lot within the last year. Something that no one should have to go through. Seeing how much of a financial, physical, and emotional strain this has been on her, I'm hoping this fundraiser will help with some of those burdens. Please consider reading her story below <3

"In Dec 2023 I was diagnosed with breast cancer after my amazing PCP found a lump that May. The doctors looking at my scans didn’t seem too concerned based on my age (always self advocate!), so I didn’t get a biopsy until late that November. After my initial diagnosis of Invasive Lobular breast cancer, I was told my treatment would likely be a lumpectomy with radiation and hormone therapy. Everything would be done and over with around March! But they found more cancerous tumors during the lumpectomy so I decided switch my care over to Dana Farber (DF) in Boston for treatment.

They found yet more cancer at DF, DCIS, after another biopsy and the surgical oncologist ended up recommending a mastectomy.

Matt & I were supposed to get married 7/20/24 but we pushed up and sized down the wedding in case there were any more surprises…and there were!

I had a double mastectomy on 4/19 and they found even more cancer. The oncologist said I was likely closer to stage 2 (sneaky lobular BC is hard to see on scans). At that point, chemotherapy was recommended which was another shock and something I really hoped to avoid.

We were able to do an IVF egg retrieval just before chemo started which I was so grateful for (4 embryos frozen!). I’m now halfway done chemo; 2/4 rounds out of the way. The side effects, including hair loss, have been so humbling.

I held off wanting to post a GoFund Me for a while out of pride (and everyone has been so generous already) but even with decent health insurance this whole process has been very expensive. We’re trying to save for a house and honeymoon and future family; cancer was not something we anticipated having to deal with and save for in our early 30s. It has set us back financially on top of how emotionally and physically tough this all is.

Please don’t feel any pressure to donate. The wedding money & meal train after the mastectomy were SO helpful. I appreciate everything that’s been done to help us out so far ❤️. Anything, including a “share”, is beneficial."
