Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,
We are heartbroken to share the devastating news of the sudden and tragic passing of Kenji Spurgeon on July 1st in Capitol Hill. Kenji was a bright light in our lives, known for an infectious smile and quick wit. Kenji had an extraordinary ability to uplift everyone around with laughter, a joke, a song, or a dance. Kenji inspired us all to seek joy and be cheerleaders for one another.
Kenji was a cherished member of Summit Sierra High School’s founding class. From the very beginning, Kenji stood out, capturing the hearts of teachers and classmates. During Kenji's first week of school, Kenji was interviewed by reporters about the importance of school choice and radiated confidence. As Kenji grew, Kenji continued to be a passionate speaker and advocate. At 23, Kenji was building an independent life and becoming the person Kenji aspired to be.
This unimaginable loss has left mother, Jacqui, sister, Tamyra, and many dear friends and family members devastated. They are now facing the overwhelming task of bringing Kenji's body home to Alabama.
We are reaching out to you for support to cover the expenses of travel, cremation, and the creation of a gravestone, totaling $4,265. In this devastating time, any contribution, no matter the size, will make a significant difference to Kenji’s family.
Please consider donating to help ease the financial burden on the family and allow them to focus on grieving and celebrating Kenji’s life. If you are unable to contribute, sharing this campaign with your network would mean the world to us.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this heartbreaking period.
With gratitude,
