Support Kensley's Thymus Transplant Journey

Donation protected

Kensley was diagnosed with DiGeorge syndrome when she was born. She has had many ups and downs and lots of challenges. As things are going wonderfully right now, she has to go to Duke, North Carolina, for a thymus transplant. Duke is the only place in the United States that performs this procedure. It's a very risky and scary surgery.

With DiGeorge, Kensley was diagnosed with SKID, which is a type of congenital athymia with a severe combined immunodeficiency. It is a very rare disease that she will live with for the rest of her life. Only about 1 in 4,000 people in the U.S is diagnosed with this disease. I talked to one of the wonderful nurses at Duke who's been working with Kensley's team to get everything aligned for Kensley to get her transplant, and we are only weeks away from getting a call to come up there. We will only have 2 days to get everything ready and go.

We will then be relocating back to Cincinnati for 6 months after her transplant at Duke. the funds will be for medical and travel expenses, and food while we are there we will be paying for rent and utilities for our apartment while we are relocated . I've never wanted to do this, but we are at the end of our road with trips every month to Cincinnati for appointments and endless amounts of things we buy weekly to ensure we keep her safe.
