Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,

After reviewing the fees that GoFundMe is charging and the taxes that need to be paid, we are move back our fundraising goal from $16,000 to the original $20,000. This adjustment will ensure that we have sufficient funds to cover all expenses without leaving the family in financial hardship. We deeply appreciate your continued generosity and support during this incredibly difficult time.

Queridos amigos, familiares y seguidores,

Dear Friends, Family and Supporters,

We are heartbroken to share the devastating news of the passing of our beloved Kevin Daniel Chaparro Alarcon. Kevin was a bright light in our lives, and his departure has left us in deep sorrow. For those who knew him, you were blessed with his kind heart, humility, and perseverance. At only 18 years old, he thrived in everything he set his mind to.

Kevin Daniel was raised in Colombia but was born in Miami, Florida. Since he was little, his dream was to return to his birthplace to study and set his roots in what he called “his home.” At 18 years old, Kevin embarked on the biggest adventure of his life. He worked hard to achieve excellent grades in high school, became a great football (soccer) player, and won multiple tournaments. His efforts earned him a scholarship to begin his studies in Miami this coming September. He started his journey on March 29th, 2024, working full time, paying rent, and saving money to support himself while living in Miami. He was thriving after just three months.

On the night of July 15th, 2024, Kevin went to a nearby mall to watch the final football match between Colombia and Argentina. As a dedicated football player and fan of this sport, he could not miss this.
That night, he was in constant contact with his parents. After the match ended, he called his dad in Colombia and said, “I am going home; I will call you when I get there”. Sadly, Oscar never received that call. Kevin was tragically the victim of a hit-and-run and died at the scene.

Kevin’s parents are currently in Colombia and face significant challenges in handling the necessary arrangements from afar. We are starting this GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for the following urgent needs:

Visa Paperwork for Kevin’s Parents: To allow Kevin's parents to travel and manage these arrangements, we need assistance with the visa application process and associated costs.
Repatriation of Kevin's Body: We need to bring Kevin back to Colombia so his family can lay him to rest in his homeland.

Any contribution, no matter how small, will be immensely helpful during this difficult time. Your generosity will directly support our family in their efforts to bring our Kevin back home and provide a proper farewell.

Thank you for your kindness and support.

With gratitude,

Mathew Geiken
