Support Kevin's Journey to Stability and Employment

Donation protected

I am writing to humbly request your support in helping me overcome a challenging period in my life. For too long, I have been struggling with homelessness and the cycle of rehab centers, which has made it nearly impossible to find stability and secure a job.

I began my recovery journey in early 2022 when I stepped into my boss's office and told him I was leaving my job to enter an Alcohol Use Disorder treatment rehabilitation hospital. At that time, I still had a car and a little money saved up. Over the last 2 and a half years, I've been sober except for a few relapses. In the beginning, I stayed sober for 10 months and had moved out of a sober living apartment to relocate closer to my work and my son. The man I was renting a room from got evicted (I thought he owned the home), and I found myself looking for a new place and job. This led to my only significant relapse (4 months) in early 2023. I landed in the ER, having run my physical health down to literally near-death circumstances. In April 2023, I entered my second rehab facility and completed the 120-day program. However, while in rehab, I was unable to work. My funds slowly drained over the next year as I paid my bills and rent for sober living. I had to sell my car to pay my sober living rent earlier this year (2024). I've had a couple of short relapses in the last year, remaining sober 49 out of the last 52 weeks. Both relapses this year came in times when I found myself with no money and nowhere to go. Fear of literally living on the streets led me to drink. At one point in early 2024, I lived out of my car in a Walmart parking lot for over 3 weeks.

The problem I face is that I am in a rehab program now, but honestly, I entered more for the shelter than the need for rehab. At this juncture, I have an overdrawn bank account, no car, and bills overdue or coming due (phone, 3 maxed credit cards, health insurance, and storage unit).

I desperately need to get out of the cycle of rehab-hopping because while it provides me a place to live, my inability to seek and gain employment keeps me in a state of having no other options.

After almost 3 years of working on myself and understanding the disease of addiction, I am confident that I can return to the "real world" a sober, productive, and healed individual. I want this for me and my 16-year-old son.

Funds received will be used to rent an apartment, trailer, or room and pay my bills. Once situated in my own place, I have a computer and can focus 100% of my energy towards finding employment and starting work.

If you donate with your name attached, I will consider that a loan that I pledge to repay as I am able after earning income. Any anonymous donations I will consider gifts.

With your generous donation, I hope to achieve my goal of finding a permanent apartment and possibly an old inexpensive car. A place to call my own and ability to get around would provide the foundation I need to rebuild my life. I would be able to focus on finding employment, seeking counseling, and taking steps towards a brighter future.

Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference. Your support will give me the hope and motivation to break free from this cycle and work towards a better life.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Respectfully submitted,

Kevin
