In Loving Memory of Keyon Thomas

Keyon was born into a loving family and left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. His humor and ability to make others laugh brought so much joy to those around him. He was strong-willed, always uplifting others, whether it was making people dance, laugh, or bringing tears of joy with his kind spirit. For those who knew him, they would tell you he had a bright future ahead. He loved to sing, and one of the proudest moments of my life was watching him walk across the stage to receive his diploma. Seeing his smile when he went off to college and later moved into his own place was everything. My baby did that. But sadly, despite all the joy he brought to others, depression silently took hold of him.

We didn’t fully realize how deeply he was hurting. I tried my best to be there, to help him through his pain, but his heart was broken in ways I couldn't fix. Depression is real, and sometimes, it hides behind the brightest smiles. I know now, more than ever, that we must take it seriously. Unfortunately, I learned this too late. My beautiful son took his life, and our hearts are shattered.

Now, we face the painful task of laying him to rest, something no parent should have to do. We are reaching out for support during this incredibly difficult time as we work to honor his memory and give him the farewell he deserves.
