Support Kharkiv!

 

 

My name is GéNIA, I am a composer, concert pianist and a founder of Piano-Yoga®. I was born in Kharkiv, Ukraine, where I studied piano at the Special School for Gifted Children and the Kharkiv State Institute of Arts. I have been living in London since graduating from the Guildhall School of Music and Trinity Laban Conservatoire.

 

I have created the ‘Support Kharkiv!’ campaign in order to provide support for the citizens of Kharkiv, the city which is being demolished as I am writing this text. The city is suffering from bombs, rockets, and other attacks on civilian buildings, making citizens hide underground or flee.

 

 

 

 

There are shortages of medicine, food, and basic care. The city’s infrastructure is constantly being repaired, after being damaged by the Russian army. Kharkiv is positioned in the Far East of the country, so it is very difficult to get humanitarian help there. Many apartments and houses have been destroyed and people had to flee with nowhere to go. The train stations are full and the way to Lviv, the city in the west of Ukraine where the majority of people flee, takes up to 50 hours to reach and is extremely dangerous. Many elderly and sick people are unable to travel, and, therefore, they and their families are staying in the city. Many Kharkiv citizens are simply trapped.

 

I am personally in touch with people in Kharkiv daily, including volunteers who are looking after people in need. I would like to help them with obtaining medicine, food, basic care and provide an emergency help. 

 

 

 

 

In my artistic work, the majority of what I have shared with you through my music, or, taught through my Piano-Yoga® educational work, I have learned in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Therefore, I feel it is my responsibility to help Kharkiv citizens as much as I can.

 

Your help in saving the citizens from Kharkiv will be invaluable.  As of today, I made an agreement to work with Kharkiv charity called 'Kharkiv with you' (https://kharkiv-with-you.org) which provide humanitarian and emergency aid directly in Kharkiv. For example, apart from distributing the humanitarian aid, including food and medication, in the event when, for example, the windows will be torn out from the building or lifts get broken, this charity will help its citizens.  Therefore all the proceeds from the this campaign will be sent to this charity 'Kharkiv with you'.

As the charity is located in Kharkiv, in the event if the charity is unable to work or receive the funds, I will seek alternative sources located in Kharkiv itself. If I cannot find satisfactory assistance,  l will forward the remaining proceeds to British Ukrainian Aid
