Support Kiley’s Mission: Healing in Uganda

Thank you for visiting my page! I’m raising support for my medical missions trip to Uganda on May 2-12. Missions in Africa has been my dream since I was a young girl, and it’s finally coming to fruition! For the past two and a half years, I have worked as a nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and now I get to take what I’ve learned overseas to help others. :)

For this trip, I will be going with a group of PA’s and RN’s, and we will be setting up medical clinics in rural villages where they have limited or no access to quality healthcare. We will also be visiting an orphanage in Jinja called Jinja Baby Cottage. At this orphanage, there are forty kids who have never received a head-to-toe assessment and are greatly in need of quality medical care. There are ten nannies who are taking care of these children, and they also do not have access to health care. That’s where we come in! :) We will be able to assess, diagnose, and treat their medical conditions, as well as work with the locals on continuity of care, so they can continue to have access to what they need. We will also be able to educate the nannies and “house moms” on preemie/baby care, nutrition, and sanitation.

The trip costs $3900, but my goal is to raise additional financial support for purchasing medical supplies for Mama Kits, which include vital supplies for giving birth. In Uganda, moms are required to bring their own medical supplies to the hospital in order to have their baby. If they’re unable to afford these supplies (which cost about $5 in US currency), and show up at the hospital to give birth without them, they are turned away. We have the power to fix that! Let’s help these mommas have safe and happy deliveries.
