I have always hoped I’d never have to feel this needed to be done for a loved one because that meant there was a traumatic event in their lives.

My sister and brother-in-law, Kim and Jim Monette, have hit some extremely difficult medical times.

Kim has been hospitalized in Marquette for several days and has had to go through emergency major surgery.

In addition, Jim was admitted to the hospital in Marquette and subsequently flown to Henry Ford Hospital to soon undergo urgent surgery as well.

I don’t need to say how significant medical bills are. They are fortunate to have insurance, yet we all know that no matter how much it helps, a large amount always still remains.

Kim and Jim have always been givers, typically silently, with no recognition wanted or needed. They are quick to donate to causes, no matter how big or small and give what they can at all times, whether it be monetary, time, help, food or all of the above. You will almost always see Kim happily volunteering her time at benefits and fundraisers and see Jim’s food contributions everywhere.

Because of who they are, it took a lot of conversation and convincing for them to allow me to reach out for some help, trust me! I reminded them how people who care WANT to help others in their time of need, just like they always do. It is THEIR turn to receive after so much giving and allow others the gift of giving back to THEM ❤️ (I have no doubt they will be back to continuing to give to others before we know it, God willing
