Support Kim Schroth's Fight Against Cancer

Thank you for taking the time to visit and provide this opportunity to share Kim's story. Kim Schroth's battle with cancer has been a long one, but she is still fighting hard. Anyone who knows Kim knows that she is a strong-willed woman with so much positivity and love in her heart. She can beat this cancer, but needs your help.
In January 2018, Kim was rushed to the hospital for chest pain, which turned out to be blood clots in her lungs. After many tests and a CT scan, doctors found that the culprit for the blood clots was a cancerous tumor near her ovary and a major artery in her leg. The type and stage of the cancer was unknown at the time, so it was recommended that she undergo chemotherapy with the hopes of shrinking the tumor enough to surgically remove the rest. After many rounds of chemo that spring and a surgery in summer 2018, they thought they had gotten rid of all of the cancer. We were all so relieved!
However, in October 2018, we got the heart-breaking news that they had found another (or possibly the same) tumor. She continued additional chemo and some radiation, but the cancer was too aggressive to compete. In July 2019, Kim was once again hospitalized due to serious complications caused by the growing tumor, including loss of kidney function, a bowel obstruction, and debilitating sciatic pain. She was hospitalized for 2.5 months, during which she received countless procedures and a life-saving surgery to repair some of the damage the tumor had caused. Sadly, they could not remove all of the tumor for fear of risking her life. But because of the surgery, doctors were finally able to diagnose Kim with a rare and aggressive form of bladder cancer: Stage IV Urothelial Carcinoma.
In the middle of October 2019, Kim was able to finally return home (with lots of drains, severe pain, and a myriad of medications). While it is difficult to stay on top of all of her medical needs, she is so grateful to be out of the hospital and in her own home again, and is taking things one day at a time. She is currently undergoing immunotherapy to try to slow down the growth of the tumor. Since the tumor is inoperable, she is now focused on her treatments, nutrition, and spending as much time with her loved ones as possible (including her new grandbaby!) in order to heal. She has so much faith that she will beat this cancer, and we need others to rally around her too!
Cancer has taken its toll on this family in more ways than one. Kim's husband, Steve, was also severely debilitated from mouth and throat cancer surgery in 2014. Unfortunately, neither Kim nor Steve have been able to work much the past few years at their family-owned business due to their cancer-caused disabilities. That, coupled with large medical bills and insufficient independent insurance coverage, has made it very difficult for Kim and Steve to stay afloat financially and has added to the stress of this already arduous journey. Your immediate support will allow Kim to focus all of her energy on healing instead of worrying about how to pay her massive medical bills.
The goal of this fund is to give Kim (and Steve) the resources they need to fight this cancer, and win! Your generosity would be extremely helpful and so greatly appreciated. It's tough to ask for help, but cancer is a mean disease which debilitates you not only physically but financially. Any financial support you can provide will go towards hospital bills and hiring an in-home caregiver to help with chores around the house a few hours per week.
We understand that a financial contribution may not be possible for all. Regardless of your ability to contribute financially, Kim also asks that you keep her in your thoughts and prayers. If you would like to contribute in a different way, please join us at her upcoming benefit on Sunday, February 23rd from 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM at Tanners Grill and Bar in Kimberly, WI. Simply your presence at the benefit will energize Kim to continue this fight.
Please join us in loving and supporting Kim and her family during these difficult times.
