Support Kim's Cancer-Related Health Expenses

Kim received a diagnosis of breast cancer in December of 2023; a highly treatable, in fact curable, form of breast cancer that we caught very early (for those medical-minded folks: Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, stage 1a, HER2+, ER-, PR- with a tumor smaller than 2cm and no lymph node involvement). We have navigated the past 3+ months with such incredible support from our friends and family and caregivers; from the magical Dr. Mary Stanley, breast surgeon extraordinaire, to Dr. Shlomit Ein-Gal, the medical oncologist who is slowly opening up to learning about the integrative therapies Kim has been able to access. And Kim has received incredible care from the naturopathic oncologist Dr. Lee at Champlain Center for Natural Medicine, our local acupuncture geniuses Brooke Moen and the folks at Vermont Community Acupuncture, and Linden de Voil at VT Center for Integrative Herbalism, who have all helped to maintain Kim’s vibrancy and wellness while she undergoes chemotherapy. Kim is now halfway through chemo!

During this time we have also received the kindest and generous gifts: bodywork by gifted massage therapist Gaby Goldberg, noise-canceling headphones to mute the infusion suite’s constant beeping, nourishing food, funny and heart-filled cards, Doordash, and outpourings of emotional, psychological, financial, and energetic support for all that we are holding. We feel such gratitude. To know we are held by you all with such care and intention is the actual medicine right now.

…And this is what makes asking for more help difficult. We are facing the reality that without two incomes, our everyday financial commitments are getting more difficult to manage. The impacts of chemotherapy are compounding and Kim continues to be unable to work at her fullest capacity. As we bump up against health insurance limits on acupuncture and out-of-pocket expenses for other medications and treatments, we are at a point of asking our community for the financial support we need. All funds we raise will be used to aid Kim and Sarah’s health and wellbeing during this time: co-pays, acupuncture appointments, herbal supplements, bodywork, other unforeseen health expenses.... Should there be any funds remaining after Kim’s full cancer treatment and she is declared NED (No Evidence of Disease), we will use your donation to support a therapeutic travel experience…. Probably to Puerto Rico, where Kim’s heart and body will find even more healing.
