Support Kim’s Journey: Tumors Be Damned! We Are Going To Be Victorious!
Dear Friends, Family, and (SEO) Community,
Life changed in an instant for Kim and Clint this past summer. What began as strange, unsettling moments when Kim lost feeling on the right side of her body quickly spiraled into an unimaginable journey. After several visits to urgent care, two seizures, and multiple inconclusive scans, Kim finally received a diagnosis no one ever wants to hear—Glioblastoma, a highly aggressive brain cancer.
Glioblastoma is often called the “terminator” of cancers because of its severity and unforgiving nature, but Kim is undeterred. Her strength, spirit, and courage shine brightly, even in these dark days, as she faces each new challenge with remarkable resolve.
A Life of Service, Family, and Creativity
For over 20 years, Kim dedicated herself to serving her country, with deployments overseas (Iraq and Afghanistan). Following her active duty, she continued her government career at Yuma Proving Grounds, always showing up for her community and her colleagues with the same dedication and tenacity. Kim has spent her life giving, whether through her service to her country, her devotion to her family, or her creativity, and now it’s time to rally around her as she faces the fight of her life.
Kim is the beloved wife of 31 years to her devoted husband (Clint Butler) and a loving mother to two wonderful children. She is a talented creator with hobbies ranging from crocheting and sewing to working on her cherished Glowforge laser engraver. While her dexterity has waned due to her illness, her determination to keep creating remains. Her Glowforge has become her lifeline, a space where she can pour her heart and creativity into each project despite her physical limitations. Now, we’re asking for your help to keep her passion alive and make her fight just a little bit easier.
The Road Ahead: Every Day is a Battle
This is no ordinary fight. In mid-July, after her first MRI revealed a tumor, Kim underwent brain surgery. The procedure was a success, but the path following it has been riddled with challenges. Kim bravely faced weeks of radiation and chemotherapy, only to discover that the cancer had spread. Now, she’s starting a more aggressive treatment plan with specialists three hours away in Phoenix, including targeted radiation therapy and an innovative treatment called Optune, designed to prevent cancer cells from multiplying.
The distance and frequency of these treatments demand time, energy, and money. Multiple trips each week, endless consultations and escalating medical expenses are all part of Kim’s daily reality. But she presses on, and we’re committed to helping her every step of the way. Kim is willing to do whatever it takes, even as she faces this disease head-on with a strength that leaves us in awe.
Why Your Support Matters
This GoFundMe is our way of giving back to a woman who has given so much. Each donation will directly impact Kim’s fight, covering travel expenses, treatment costs, and materials for her Glowforge—keeping her creativity alive as she continues to battle cancer. Your support is a reminder to Kim that she is not alone in this journey and that her community, both near and far, stands beside her.
Your Generosity Will Support:
Travel Expenses: Each trip to Phoenix is a 6-hour round-trip journey. These trips are necessary for her specialized treatments and consultations with specialists that offer hope for her future.
Medical and Treatment Costs: From consultations to treatments, each stage in this battle requires immense resources. The Butlers have insurance, but there are extraneous expenses that still need to be covered.
Materials for Her Glowforge: Creativity is her refuge, and these materials allow her to continue doing what she loves. Your donations give Kim the opportunity to find joy, even in the toughest of times.
Community Support: Every donation, every message, every show of solidarity tells Kim she is deeply cared for and surrounded by love.
How You Can Make a Difference

Every dollar, every word of encouragement, and every show of support brings her one step closer to feeling the warmth and care of the community she’s so loved by.
Let’s join together to make sure Kim knows she is not alone in this fight. We can help her focus on healing, creating, and holding onto hope. Kim has shown us all what it means to be courageous; now, it’s our turn to show her the strength of a community united by love and compassion.
