Support Kiran and Family After Devastating Accident

Kiran Bhat Talwar, her husband Vivek and 4 kids were involved in a terrible car accident on August 23rd outside of Charleston, SC. They are originally from NJ and were on a family road trip when the accident occurred. 3 of them suffered life threatening and critical injuries undergoing many surgeries and remain hospitalized. Thankfully everyone survived and 3 of the children (Shawn, Ryan and Aaron) have been discharged but still need assistive devices to move. Kiran, Vivek and Anya remain hospitalized. The discharged children are currently in a ground floor AirBnB that can accommodate 4 and are being cared for by their elderly grandparents that flew in to help. They have no help down in Charleston as they were driving through and may have to stay in the area for weeks or find a way to get 3 medically transported back to NJ. Most of the items they were traveling with were destroyed in the crash and the family has no transportation to even get between hospitals, grocery and the airBnB aside from rideshare. They will need a lot of help over the coming weeks to get back on their feet while they are in Charleston and then get back to NJ. Despite it all, Kiran and here family are remaining strong.

There has been an outpouring of love and support from the community and many complete strangers have come together for her down in Charleston. Kiran is speechless and beyond grateful. We have set up a meal train for meals to be sent to the children and grandparents as they have no means to get anywhere given the children’s conditions.

UPDATE

Thank you for the outpouring of love, kindness and generosity. It has left the Bhat Talwar Family feeling so blessed. They are continuing to recover and are very grateful for everyone’s support and well wishes. They intend to reach out in gratitude to each and every one of you once they have had some more time to heal and to have their family back all together. Vivek was discharged and is slowly recovering. Anya and Kiran remain hospitalized but are hoping to transition into rehab soon.

They have found a temporary place to stay while in Charleston that will be able to accommodate all of them. Your donations are going towards the renting of medical equipment, full time aides for Anya as she will be non-weight bearing for at least 2-3 months, and home physical therapists for the family… to name a few.
