Support Kobe's Road to Recovery

Hi! My name is Brianna & On Monday, June 24th we were outside with our dog Kobe, throwing the ball around with him and playing like we always do. He was perfectly fine and within seconds that changed. Kobe sat down and within a few seconds we noticed he could barely move his back legs. He was trying to walk and we could tell something wasn’t right. We quickly got him in the house and realized we needed to take him to the emergency vet. We got to Delmarva Emergency Animal Center around 630pm and by that time he could not move his back legs at all. They had to sedate him to do blood work and X-rays. They couldn’t find anything wrong with him but suggested he stay over night so they could monitor his fever and give him some medication for pain. We left at 1030pm and got a call at 1am to pick him up because he was stressed and was getting himself worked up. We pick him up and immediately head over the bridge to Anne Arundel Veterinary Emergency Clinic. We arrive 3am Tuesday morning they take him right back to check his vitals and everything looked good. We were told he needed to be transferred to neurology so we waited until about 9am for them to come in. lonnnnnnnng story short, The Dr scheduled a MRI. The MRI showed fluid on the spine so they went ahead and did a spinal tap (we are still waiting for the spinal tap results). The Dr is currently treating him for autoimmune meningitis. He is on several medications right now to help fight this condition. Kobe also has a tick disease called Ehrlichia and is being treated for that. (after some research, we really think this is what started everything). Kobe stayed there for a few days and of course we stayed as long as we could everyday to be near him. We got to bring him home Thursday the 27th. We had a pretty rough first night home. Kobe is still unable to walk/ use his back legs. We have to use a harness to pick him up and get him from place to place. He is going to need lots and lots of rest, medications and physical therapy so he can walk again.

Everybody knows Kobe is our child and we will do any and everything we can to get our boy back healthy and to his normal self. It’s so heartbreaking watching him go through this. From him being so active everyday to him having to sit in one spot unable to move, it’s so sad. We hate to ask for help from anybody, but this has hit us pretty hard and it doesn’t stop here. On top of the several vet bills we collected over the last couple days, we will have several more vet appointments, possible up coming physical therapy, medications etc.

We appreciate any help you can give & appreciate everybody’s love and prayers. please continue to pray for our boy, he has a long road to recovery.
