Support Krystine Jacobs and Her Family
Donation protected
Our amazing friend Krystine Jacobs, a devoted mom of 5 and one of the kindest, most selfless people you’ll ever meet, needs our help.
Krystine is a mother of 5 living in rural Newfoundland since 2021. Originally from Toronto, ON—where her extended family still resides—she found her happiness by the saltwater, creating a beautiful life for her family.
Earlier this year, Krystine noticed changes in a birthmark on her heel. After a biopsy in May, she received the devastating news that it was cancer. Since then, she’s been through two surgeries to remove the growth, along with skin grafting and lymph node removal. Despite her strength and resilience, this journey has brought immense challenges for her and her family.
On December 3, Krystine received some hopeful news: her PET scan revealed that the cancer hasn’t spread beyond her lymph nodes. However, she faces a long road ahead. She will need immunotherapy treatments every six weeks in Corner Brook for the next year. This treatment plan, while necessary and encouraging, comes with unknown side effects, including fatigue and the potential for sudden complications. She will also travel to St. John’s every six months for scans as well.
To ensure Krystine has the support she needs, her oncologist has recommended that her husband, Johnny, remain home during Krystine’s year long treatment. As a result, Johnny has been off work since the end of August, focusing on caring for Krystine and their five children. For a family of seven, the transition from a steady income to EI benefits has created significant financial challenges, especially as medical bills, travel expenses, and daily living costs continue to pile up.
Krystine and Johnny are navigating this journey with incredible courage, but they need our support.
Contributions to this GoFundMe will help cover:
• Travel expenses for Krystine’s treatments in Corner Brook. (A 2.5 hour commute, one way)
• Travel expenses for Krystine’s scans in St. John’s. (A 7.5 hour commute, one way)
• Uncovered medical costs related to immunotherapy and ongoing monitoring.
• Household expenses as Johnny remains home to provide care for Krystine and their children.
- Trips to St. John’s every 3 months for the dermatologist.
This young family is facing not only the emotional toll of cancer but also the financial strain of reduced income and increased expenses. Your donations, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference in helping Krystine focus on her recovery and keeping her family strong during this difficult time.
Let’s come together to support this incredible mom and give her the strength and resources she needs to fight this battle.
Johnny’s Stepmother, Valerie Braaten Jacobs and a friend, Christine have started this fundraiser to support Krystine, and we’re reaching out to ask for your help. If you’re able, please consider donating, and don’t forget to share this, to help spread the word.
Krystine recently had her first immunotherapy treatment, and it’s been a tough road. After experiencing a severe rash, she had to travel to Baie Verte after midnight to see a doctor and was admitted overnight for monitoring.
Let’s come together to help her during this challenging time. Every bit of support makes a difference!
Thank you for your generosity and kindness. Please share this with your friends and family to spread the word.
