With a heavy heart, I must share a recent tragedy that has deeply affected so many, Kupah, Myself and possibly some of you…
On December 16, 2024, at approximately 4:30 PM Pacific Standard Time, my dearest and best friend, Kupah James, was involved in a motorcycle accident while en route to teach BootKAMP. He was promptly rushed to UCLA’s Trauma Unit, where he endured approximately 15 hours of solitary confinement and excruciating pain, receiving limited updates on his condition.
During his visit, Kupah underwent medical treatment and was diagnosed with a fractured patella (broken knee), 6 stitches, bruised ribs, a sprained ankle/hand and various other injuries. While the motorcycle sustained significant damage (totaled), fortunately, Kupah’s prognosis is positive. Although he did not require surgical intervention, his recovery process remains challenging to say the least.
Regrettably, Kupah is currently unable to resume his regular scheduled programming - Numerous BootKAMP, Precision Running and Elevate weekly classes - Djing at RoosterFISH and a Barrage of other things that keep him occupied and most importantly, spreading positivity.
However, he has commenced physical therapy to restore his knee mobility, enabling him to resume running, squatting and cartwheels in traffic, #ThisGuy
Kupah is a man of unwavering determination and a relentless pursuit of positive energy. He consistently seeks opportunities to assist others and strives for the best in all endeavors. While he rarely seeks personal gain, he has faced challenges in maintaining a sedentary lifestyle due to his spirited nature.
Despite the uncertainty and stress surrounding his recovery, Kupah has demonstrated remarkable resilience….. On a personal note if I may, I have been besties with this man for 13 years and he does-not-give-up. He’s taken countless shots and what many people may not see or know is how many times he misses. I’ve witnessed this time and time again (it breaks my heart every time), no matter what life throws at him he continues to show up everyday to be the best he can for himself and his people - consequently this has motivated me to do the very same. Some of the things he’s endured - embarrassing exit national television, left a thriving dj biz that he owned, threw out his back (twice), leaving behind business relationships, friends, clients, family members, only to have his motorcycle stolen the first month we moved here, the list goes on but he never waivers or allows that to get in the way of being GREAT. While he hasn’t had it easy - he has never played the victim card either. To me that shows someone’s character, integrity, and overall self when things get hard. I would choose to be on his team everyday. Thanks for taking the time to read this little note from me. I thank u for ur support of him, he needs us.
Over the last 2-1/2 months I have watched over Kupah - countless sleepless nights grappling with the implications of his accident, and his mental health has been tested. While tears may have been shed, Kupah remains annoyingly optimistic and anxious to get back to help others.
The road to recovery is commencing, entailing a multitude of expenses such as medical bills from UCLA’s Trauma unit, orthopedic visits, follow-up doctor appointments, insurance claims, legal representation, settlements, reports, and numerous phone calls. However, the timeline for completion remains uncertain. Consequently, bringing me to this moment… I humbly request your assistance. As Kupah (and I) navigates this challenging journey, I am diligently working to support him in regaining his sense of self and physical well-being. While we are committed to managing the financial aspects of his recovery, we acknowledge that we require additional support beyond our capabilities. Kupah wanted to do at all, even after the accident, he demonstrated more sorrow for the LA incidents and had to be convinced he/we need help just like others.
To address this, I have initiated a GoFundMe campaign to financially, metaphorically and physically assist him in his recovery. If you feel comfortable sharing this information with your social circle, we would be deeply appreciative. If donating is not feasible at this time, but you wish to offer support through other means, please feel free to connect with us via social media channels or his Website - KupahJames.Com
