Support Kyle Delbridge's ICU Recovery
Donation protected
Please pray for my cousin, Kyle Delbridge. He is in ICU with a fungal pneumonia. Apparently, it has a 90% fatality rate. The treatment for it takes two weeks. He also has a severe case of Celiac Disease. Please continue to pray for him as you think of him.
The family also will have a substantial amount of medical bills after this treatment and Kyle has a very long road to recovery. Any amount you are able to help is appreciated.
Update on Kyle:
I received a new update tonight (Sunday, 7/14/2024). Kyle is back on the lung machine and he is sedated again. He had been taken off of it but then had trouble and couldn't breathe on his own. The fungal infection is still raging, and his condition varies quite a bit. His numbers go up and down. At the moment, he is not doing well. His lungs are full of fungus. And according to his mother, we won't know anything for another week or so. Please continue your prayers.
Update(Tuesday, July 16th)
My Aunt Elaine (Kyle's mom) wants to thank everyone from the bottom of her heart for the donations. He had fever last night and his oxygen levels went down. Fever went down and oxygen levels stabilized. He will have surgery today to put in a treacheyotmy. Today they told his mom that the pneumonia hasn't improved and the swelling in his lungs is terrible and the same as when he came in so he is going to be here a long time. They said it is typical for this kind of pneumonia. Please pray.
Update: Blood pressure keeps dropping. The doctors are trying to wean him off some of the drugs keeping him in coma but that is good and bad. His numbers are good now but that goes and comes. They were able to get a lot out of his lungs today but that caused a lesion so his lung that was bleeding which showed in CT. Kidneys are producing too much urine. They have been consulting with Dr s around the country and no one seems to have seen a case like this. Its so sad and Aunt Elaine is 100 percent exhausted.
Wish I had a better update for everyone. Please continue to pray.
Update July 24th from Kyle’s mom Elaine:
He has been stable but still in critical condition for the last two days but they had him paralyzed to heal. They took him off of the paralyzation drug and now his numbers got much worse this morning and he was horrible gurgling which they sucked out but it returns and then he panicked and BP goes up and oxygen down so they just sedated him again. They are telling me that this will be a normal occurrence that will be hard to watch as they bring him out to see how much he can handle without damaging his lungs more.
Update Aug 16th:
Kyle had a setback the last two days with another infection and fever. He was very unresponsive which was scary.
He also got an eye infection but it is better today. Today he is doing a little better and he smiled at me, squeezed my hand and moved his feet. Praise Him!
They found a portion of his lungs collapsed due to air around the outside of his lungs. He also has scarring that they say with time can heal -but time will let us know. He also has a pneumothorax injury inside his lung from him trying to breathe too much air as his lungs are trying to heal, they are very fragile right now. They are trying to lower his sedation and unfortunately his blood pressure gets either too low or high and then they have to sedate him again. He had started physical therapy with sitting and one time standing for 5 minutes. He was very sedated and they were so proud of him, that's Kyle.....they are going to postpone future PT until he heals more...We have Faith and Hope that he is on the road to healing. Please continue to pray.
Update Aug 22:
They started physical therapy at a slow pace. Please continue to pray.
Update Aug: 24th from Sue Gann
Hi Katie.... I went to see Kyle & Elaine today. They used a new machine today to help him stand up for a bit then transfer him to a chair.
It worked perfect for him... much better than the sling. He really liked it. He was very alert.... Of course can't talk yet but writes notes and can text. I was impressed! We moved the couch close to him so we could be face to face. He wrote us a note!
