Support Kyle & Von’s Recovery from Tornado Devastation

Hi, my name is Dina Dimopoulos. I’m reaching out on behalf of my nephew Kyle Heitzman and his partner Von, who recently faced a severe crisis after the tornadoes tore through Tallahassee in the past few days. On what was supposed to be the start of a new chapter in their lives, they experienced a devastating setback. They had just moved into their first home together—a trailer in Greenwood Mobile Park—when a tornado struck around 7 am.

Tragically, a large tree was uprooted and fell directly onto their new home, destroying everything they had just moved in, including appliances, housewarming gifts, and personal belongings. The force of the impact was so great that it sent Kyle flying out the front door and left Von trapped in the kitchen. Thankfully, Von managed to crawl to safety, despite injuries, through an opening where the drywall had broken away.

In the aftermath, they discovered that much of what they owned was lost, including one of their three beloved cats that remains missing. Both Kyle and Von suffered injuries and are now staying with my sister Kris (Kyle’s mom) as they try to recover from this unexpected tragedy.

Kyle had invested all his savings into this home, and now, with the trailer wholly destroyed, they are essentially starting from scratch. On top of everything, their trailer was uninsurable due to its age, which has only made their situation more challenging. We are trying to raise $15,000 to help Kyle and Von replace their belongings, cover their immediate needs, and begin to recover from this life-altering event.
